What is the Process

How do we get started?

There are basically two easy steps:  Choose a design template and choose a web site plan.  Then, select the "Buy Now" button for the website plan desired.  This will initiate a 50% deposit for the Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum plan, or a 100% deposit for the Budget or Starter plan.  Upon receipt of payment, we'll purchase the template, domain name (if needed), and hosting and get started. 

We will also contact you for additional information.  If this is a redesign we will likely start collecting the content directly from your current site, moving it over to the new design. 

Within 48 hours, your new site will be published to a test area where you can view it and follow along while it's developed.  After we have completed your site to your standard, we will publish your new website to your domain name, where it will then be live on the Net.  We will frequently make your updates and changes as you need them.  The monthly maintenance fee covers unlimited changes to your site.

How long do you host my web site?
Our Silver, Gold, and Platinum Plans ensure your site is hosted as long as you want, with the option of continuing monthly.  The first month's maintenance fee is paid 31 days after Agreement signing, and automatically invoiced from your credit card each month thereafter.  You may cancel any time on the Silver, Gold, or Platinum plans.  Our three smallest plans (Starter, Budget, and Basic) require a 2-year commitment.  Monthly rates are just $15.99 to $24.99.  Our medium, Bronze plan requires a 1-year commitment.  Monthly rate is just $29.99.

Where do you host my web site?
We have dedicated server space with GoDaddy.com, the Net's largest and most reliable domain and web hosting company.

I can't afford to pay for the development of my site in two payments. Can I have more time to pay?
We can work with you in a way that will surprise you.  Contact us for more information.

Can I make updates to my site myself?
Yes and no. If you choose a blog site, we will assign you a simple control panel and train you on how to make updates.  Unlimited pages can be created. You just log in and start publishing news, content, press releases, sales promotions, or whatever else you desire. If you have ever typed something in Microsoft Word (or other simple word processor), using the WYSIWYG editor will be a piece of cake. And, your content is instantly published to your site!  The blog solution, however, is limited in allowing you to update much of the structure of the site (links, overall design, etc.)

If you have an HTML editor, you can update your site any time you want.  But, you need to know how to operate such program.  Microsoft Frontpage, Microsoft Expression Web, and Macromedia Dreamweaver are several you can use.  But why not let WebDesignerLive.com take care of all your website needs?

Can you help with the marketing of my web site?
Absolutely. we know what it takes to get your web site listed in Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other top search engines. We are search engine optimization gurus and understand keyword optimization, linking, and other important elements of setting your web site up for success. Of course, there are additional things that can be done to market your site: Google Adword Program, Google Sitemap, news releases, and linking processes are three of the more important ones.  Many of our plans come with free search engine optimization and include free generation of a Google sitemap for your web site (hot item!)

Do you develop e-commerce web sites?
Certainly. we understand internet commerce (or electronic commerce) and how to set up shopping carts and merchant accounts.  We can develop your product pages, set up a payment processing solution, and have you selling in no time. Understand, however that a professional ecommerce web site takes time and money to develop. If you are looking for a basic web site with a few "buy now" buttons . . . we can do that at minimal costs, using the ever popular PayPal system.

I want a web site for my company and will need the ability to add a monthly press release and newsletter to my site myself. Can I do that?
Sure. If you've ever used Microsoft Word, Wordperfect, or similar word processing program, then you will be at home with the Blog's WYSIWYG editor we provide. Just log in, add a title, enter your content, and click "Publish".  Note that this system doesn't permit you to make changes to the design template.  You can add only content articles and pages.  Of course, you could simply send in your press release (or other content) and we will post it at no additional cost.

What does it cost to add additional pages to my web site?
If you are talking about extra pages for your blog web site, there is no additional charge since you can add unlimited pages using a control panel.  If you want additional pages for your business web site, we charge a flat rate of $129 for each additional page over any of the plans offered.

What's the difference between a "Blog" and a "Web Site"?

A blog is simply a site that permits you to add articles, news, images, and other content through the admin control panel.  You can only add content - not change the design or layout of the site (unless you understand PHP programming). 

A web site is a fully functional home page with other pages linking throughout.  You choose a design template and we develop the website to your standard . . . adding content, images, logo, etc.  Unless you have and understand an HTML editor like Microsoft Expression Web, or Dreamweaver, you won't be doing any updates yourself.  You will simply send in updates, changes, and other content via email or regular postal mail, and your personal site developer will update your site.

Template Questions

What is a web "template"?

A template is a pre-formatted web site design.  It has all the elements in place for a complete website presence.  Using a template saves us (and you) thousands of dollars on custom design work, and also gives you an idea of what your website is going to look like before work even progresses on it.  It also allows for a much quicker web presence.  Moreover, a website template already has the necessary coding emplaced to meet or exceed website design standards recommended by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), the organization overseeing quality website design standards.

How many website templates do you have?

We have thousands of website templates, each resting in categories specific to popular trades and industries.  So, finding the right design template for your new website is quick and easy!

Do I have to purchase the template?

No, WebDesignerLive.com will purchase the design template for you, at no additional charge.

Can I use a basic template for one of your premium plans?

Absolutely.  You are not restricted on the selection of any of our templates.

Why should I select a design template?

Primarily, design templates save you time and money - thousands of dollars in most instances.  Next, you will have an idea of what your website is going to look like, eliminating the usual "back-and-forth" viewing and editing process just to get the initial design, look, and feel of your website correct.

What if someone else already is using the template I want?

You will be hard pressed to find another website using the design you choose.  There are billions of web pages on the Internet.  But, if you do come across another website that has the same design, you can rest assured the overall look of that site is going to be different as the images, links, and content are going to be different from yours.  Also, we always screen the design templates you may be wanting to use to ensure no one in your area and industry has the same design.

What entails a web site?

A live web site consists of a domain name, hosting, and an actual site.

How many pages do I need for my web site?

That depends on what you are trying to accomplish.  The best way to determine the number of pages you will need is by visiting your competitor's websites and taking note of their links and pages.  Many of our website plans come with free Terms, Privacy, and Sitemap pages, so don't count them as part of your required pages (plan specific).

Do I own the web site?

Absolutely.  You are entered as the Registrant on the contact section when we register your domain.  If you already own your domain, then you clearly own the site.  Additionally, you can request and receive a copy of your site at any time.

What's the difference between Basic and Premium Templates?
Premium website templates are high-level designs, featuring cutting-edge artwork and flash.  They come free with Silver, Gold, and Platinum plans.  Premium website templates entail rich navigation structures and are already on the fast-track for search engine optimization.  In short, premium templates are the top dogs in regards to website templates.  Accordingly, they require much more time to edit.  Of course, you can select a premium template for a Budget, Starter, Basic, or Bronze plan.  See our "A-Le-Carte" pricing.

Basic website templates, though far from "basic", do have lesser visual effects and rarely include flash.  However, many entail sophisticated website features, such as rich design and layout.  Nonetheless, our basic templates are easier to edit and take less time to update.  Thus, they are available for free for any of our website plans.

Domain Questions

What is a domain name and which one should I choose?

A domain name is the name of your site.  It should reflect your business name, where possible. 

I already own my domain name. Is this ok?
Sure. we can set your web site up with no problems.

What are the best domain names and which should I choose?

The best domain names end with ".com".  The shorter the name, the better.  Of course, virtually all short, single-syllable domain names have been taken long ago.  A domain name that reflects your business is the best option, for obvious reasons.  But, frequently the domain name you want has already been registered by someone else.  It's frustrating when you do a search for the website that owns the domain name you want, and you end up at an advertising portal.  In these instances, we can try contacting the owner to inquire about selling the domain name, but you will likely be wasting your time as most of these "cybersquatters" want more than the name is worth. As for domain names, "EddingsConstruction.com" is a good name.  "Eddings-Construction.com" is not bad, but try to avoid the dashes where possible.  Instead of using the dash, try to shorten the desired domain name.  "EddingsConstruct.com" is better.  Ignore the ".net", ".info", and ".name" extensions.  You really need to get a ".com" name.

Hosting Questions

Where is my site hosted?

We are partnered with GoDaddy.com.

Can it be hosted on a server of my choosing?

Sure.  But, we highly recommend GoDaddy.com.  In order to take advantage of the outstanding 24/7 phone support GoDaddy.com offers, as well as certain website elements (blogs, sitemaps, etc.), we prefer no other hosting company.  Of course, you are free to host your site anywhere you want - without our monthly hosting/maintenance fee.

Maintenance/Site Updates

What amount of updates can be made to the site?

You receive unlimited updates and changes to your site as long as you are a customer of WebDesignerLive.com.  All you have to do is send us your updates/changes via email and we will edit them to your website!

What is not considered a regular update or change?

Changes to the design template itself.  For example, a change to the overall look and feel of the general design.  Anything else is included with the monthly maintenance.  We will change content, text, images, links - anything concerning the information on your website.

How are updates and changes made to my site?

Simply send them to info@webdesignerlive.com, or the email address of your personal web developer with an explanation which page(s) and changes you want made.  Or, call us during regular business hours: 828.283.3510.

Logo Design

I need a logo.  Can you develop one for me?

Absolutely.  All plans except "Budget", "Starter" and "Basic" include a free logo design.  Otherwise, we charge $299 for logo design.

Webmail

What is Webmail?
Webmail is an email account that comes with your domain name. It is personalized (you@yoursite.com) and comes with plenty of easy-to-use features. And, you can check your email from any internet-connected computer in the world!  You can have a number of free webmail accounts with the Bronze Plan - more for the others. Use one for sales (sales@yoursite.com), information (info@yoursite.com) or whatever else you desire.  Webmail accounts are included in all plans.

How do I get my Webmail emails to arrive in my Outlook Express or Blackberry in-box?

Sure!  Just let us know which webmail account you want to send copies to.
